This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). From camels and wooden boats to trains and steam boats, the past decade has seen many achievements of BRI. As a builder, contributor and undertaker of this prosperous “Belt and Road”, Poly has traveled thousands of miles to leave beauty along the route of BRI.

Build "bones and muscles": connectivity in infrastructure

In 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed to jointly build the "Belt and Road" initiative. Since then, the "Belt and Road" initiative, which spans the millennium and shines with new brilliance in the 21st century, has become an important platform for promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. As for how to break down the overall plan into practical measures, the connectivity in infrastructure is a premise and also an important direction.

In 2021, drinking water was carried a rarely long way within the Democratic Republic of Congo. In order to solve the "urgent need" of drinking water in Mbuji-Mayi Town, Kasai Province, and repair the drinking water system as soon as possible, the project team of Poly Changda Engineering under Poly International, traveled 1,333 kilometers across five provinces, through more than 200 kilometers of uninhabited primitive jungle, and arrived at Mbuji-Mayi 19 days ahead of schedule. "On the day we arrived in Mbuji-Mayi, the governor and many citizens greeted us." With persistence and bravery, the Poly team brought hope to nearly 1.4 million local people.

At that time, the KTDT project, one of the largest and most economically and socially important road projects in Nepal's history, was in full swing. The project undertaken by Poly Changda Engineering will greatly improve the traffic from the capital Kathmandu to the main grain-producing areas and populated areas. The project will also connect Birgunj, the biggest land border in Nepal. The road will promote the economic and social development of the surrounding areas and bring convenience to the people's lives along the road.

Poly's infrastructure construction has brought the economic development of many countries to a "fast track" and may potentially to a "faster track". On July 3, 2022, witnessed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the railway project of 10th of Ramadan City in Egypt was successfully put into trial operation. Poly Huaxin Post and Telecom Technologies provided this project with complete communication and an integrated solution for control system. Poly Huaxin was also responsible for end-to-end services, including system design, supply, installation, commissioning, acceptance and maintenance. Just within two years, railway stations have been built one after another. The fast-moving trains have shown the condensed wisdom of Poly Huaxin.

Unclog "artery": consistency of rules and standards

"We need to combine China's development with the development of the countries along the "Belt and Road", as well as the Chinese dream with the dreams of the people of all countries along the "Belt and Road", so as to endow the ancient silk road with a brand-new connotation of the times." Poly regards the "consistency" of rules and standards as an important support for building the "Belt and Road" initiative, and achieves win-win cooperation with openness and inclusiveness.

In 2021, a thank-you letter to the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries (CNRIFFI), a subsidiary of Sinolight, was also sent to the China International Development Cooperation Agency. The letter fully affirmed the great benefits of the professional skills training provided by CNRIFFI for local agricultural cultivation. CNRIFFI has hosted the Chinese government's foreign aid training courses over the years, training more than 9000 people from 134 countries and regions, including Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, Nepal and Zambia. Through those courses, CNRIFFI has spread around the world the professional technologies, techniques and ideas that empower development.

Poly has a global vision and also a focus. The Ethiopia-China Leather Industry Joint Laboratory Project, which is almost the same age as the "Belt and Road" Initiative, has gone through ten years under the promotion of China Leather & Footwear Research Institute under Sinolight. In the past ten years, with the Ethiopia-China Leather Industry Joint Laboratory Project in place, an integrated technology system has been established for green manufacturing of high-performance leather based on the characteristics of African raw leather, which has promoted the sustainable development of the leather industry in Ethiopia and Africa as a whole.

Connect "hearts": close friendship among countries and peoples

"We should uphold the people-centered idea in development, and focus on eliminating poverty, increasing employment and improving people's livelihood, so that the achievements of the "Belt and Road" Initiative can better benefit all the people and make tangible contributions to the local economic and social development." Poly conforms to the strong desire of the people of all countries to live a better life and builds a bridge of friendship between peoples.

In farm in the Segou region of Mali in West Africa lies a vast sugarcane field, where roaring machine harvesters are cutting down the tall sugarcanes. Beside the ridge of the field, the moving transport vehicles are ready to transport the harvested sugarcanes to the factory nearby. As a joint venture between China and Mali with a history of 60 years, N-Sukala SA and Sukala SA have become largest local pillar enterprises in sugar production with the help of Sinolight International Holdings. They helped more than 10,000 people get employed every year and drove more than 10,000 families to increase their income and savings, making people rich in West Africa.

In the information age, there is a new demand for how to better benefit people's livelihood. In Mindanao, the southernmost island of the Philippines, dense rainforest vegetation obscures humans' traces and blocks the flow of information. The communication team of Poly Huaxin Post and Telecom Technologies started from scratch to undertake a series of tasks such as enabling mobile access to network, building optical transmission network and constructing computer room of data center. Whichever kinds of challenges, such as typhoon, rainstorm, and earthquake, have not stopped the pace of the team. Now, more than 1000 5G base stations are running on the island, enabling the islanders to reach the world beyond the island through network.

From highway ports to communication facilities, from drinking water projects to technical training, Poly insists on the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, as well as jointly building prosperity and driving development.
